Product Overview

Composition: S-Amlodipine (5mg)

S AMLONG contains S-Amlodipine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensives. It is used to treat essential hypertension (abnormal high blood pressure which occurs mostly due to obesity, family history or unhealthy diet) and angina pectoris (type of chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart).  

S AMLONG is not recommended for use in patients with certain heart problems. S AMLONG should be used with caution in patients having liver and kidney impairment. S AMLONG should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if clearly advised by the doctor.  S AMLONG should be used with caution in elderly patients so, consult your doctor before taking it. The most common side effects of taking S AMLONG are headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, indigestion and visual disturbances, etc. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How to use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. S-Amlong 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How It works

S-Amlong 5 Tablet is a calcium channel blocker. In high blood pressure, it normalizes the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels to reduce the pressure on them, thereby improving the blood flow in the body. The enhanced blood flow in the body further relaxes the heart muscles by reducing the workload on the heart. It also improves the oxygen flow in the body, thereby, preventing any heart-related chest pain.

What if you forget to take?

If you miss a dose of S-Amlong 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Pregnancy

S-Amlong 5 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding

S-Amlong 5 Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
