How It works
Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases the levels of incretin hormones, leading to enhanced insulin secretion and reduced glucagon secretion. Metformin works by reducing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity in muscle cells, leading to decreased glucose release by the liver and increased glucose uptake by muscle cells.
What if you forget to take?
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to the time of your next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
Safety Advice for LIPTA M 500MG
ALCOHOL
Limit or avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as alcohol can affect blood sugar levels and increase the risk of lactic acidosis (a rare but serious side effect associated with metformin use).
Hypoglycemia
Be aware of the signs and symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if you are taking other medications that can cause hypoglycemia. Carry a source of sugar (e.g., glucose tablets) with you in case of an emergency.
Frequently Asked Questions

Do not stop taking LIPTA M 500mg tablets or change your dosage without consulting your healthcare professional. Stopping the medication abruptly can lead to uncontrolled blood sugar levels.
Can I take LIPTA M 500MG tablets alone for diabetes management?
The combination of Linagliptin and Metformin is prescribed for individuals who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with diet, exercise, and metformin monotherapy or for those already on linagliptin and metformin as separate tablets. It is not typically used as a first-line treatment option.
