Composition:  Atenolol (100 mg)

 

HIPRES 100MG TABLET contains Atenolol, which belongs to the group of medicines called Beta-blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure and arrhythmias (uneven heart beats). It can also be used to prevent angina (chest pain) and protect the heart in the initial treatment after a heart attack. 

 

Hypertension is defined as persistently increased blood pressure that can show symptoms like headache, sweating, fast heartbeat or throbbing sensation. Arrhythmia is defined as a loss of heart rhythm, especially irregularity of heartbeat, characterized by dizziness, fainting, chest pain or choking sensation. Angina can be defined as a pain syndrome due to the induction of a harmful oxygen supply/demand situation in a part of the heart muscle.

 

HIPRES 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children. HIPRES 100MG TABLET is recommended for use with caution in the elderly with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking HIPRES 100MG TABLET. The most common side effects of taking HIPRES 100MG TABLET are slower pulse rate, cold feet and hands, nausea, diarrhea and tiredness.

How to use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hipress 50 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How It works

Hipress 100 Tablet is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. The exact mechanism by which Hipress 100 Tablet prevents migraines is not established yet and may vary from person to person. Hipress 100 Tablet can prevent migraines by decreasing the excitability of the nervous system. Hipress 100 Tablet is also believed to decrease the dilation of blood vessels that are responsible for migraine.

Alcohol

Hipress 100 Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Pregnancy

Hipress 100 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding

Hipress 100 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
